Winnebago – Carl F. Hayenga, 92, of Winnebago, died Friday, March 5, 2010, in Ogle County Hospice Serenity House, Oregon, surrounded by his loving family. Born March 4, 1918, in Mount Morris Township, the son of Joseph and Luella (Hagemann) Hayenga. Graduated from Adeline Grade School, and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Carl married Beverly Smith on August 23, 1969, in the Church by the Side of the Road, Rockton. He farmed with his father for many years. In addition, Carl was employed by National Lock, Rockford and then was a self-employed carpenter, having built several houses in the area. A jack-of-all-trades, he made miniature harnesses for Breyer horses, and enjoyed horses, playing cards and playing with his dog, Tedo. Carl is lovingly survived by his wife, Bev Hayenga, of Winnebago; children, Shirley (William) Griswold, of Winnebago, Sharen (Tom) Howard of Florida, and Phillip (Donna) Hayenga of Byron; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Pearl Myers of Mount Morris; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Edward Hayenga; and sister, Goldie Long. Funeral InformationService is at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 9, 2010, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with visitation from 12:00 p.m. until service time; Pastor Rich Fassig of Ogle County Hospice will officiate. At Carl’s request, cremation rites will be accorded. Burial in Middle Creek Cemetery, Winnebago. Donations Information
