Obituary for Alan Wayne Eikstadt
Alan Wayne Eikstadt, 72, of Winnebago, died Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford. He was born January 29, 1950 in Rockford, the son of Robert Jene and Dorothy Lois (Dunmire) Eikstadt. He graduated from Winnebago High School in 1968. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving from August 27, 1968 through August 25, 1972.
Alan enjoyed his work as Lab Technician at Pierce Chemical Company in Rockford. He was a member of the NRA. He enjoyed sky diving, riding his Harley Davidson, fishing, grilling, tree trimming, cutting fire wood and building camp fires. In retirement Alan could be found during the week fishing at Four Lakes Forest Preserve and on Saturdays hanging out with his grandsons and their neighborhood friends.
Alan is survived by his son, Andrew (Tanya) Eikstadt of Rockford; grandsons, August and Otis Eikstadt; brothers, Keith Eikstadt of Lena, Mark (Marie) Eikstadt of Mineral Point, WI; several nephews and nieces.
Alan is predeceased by his parents, Bob and Dorothy Eikstadt; sister, Sue Eikstadt; sister-in-law, Sharon Hensal-Eikstadt.
A celebration of life will be 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 27, 2022 at the Lake View Shelterhouse at Four Lakes Forest Preserve, 10207 Fish Hatchery Road, Pecatonica. In honoring Alan and one of his favorite activities bring your fishing gear. A catered lunch will be served at the shelterhouse.
In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established. Cremation rites accorded.
