Obituary for Alma P. Derby
German Valley - Alma P. Derby, 90, of German Valley, died Saturday morning, December 9, 2006, in Stephenson Nursing Center, in Freeport. Born November 10, 1916, in Mount Morris, the daughter of Edward and Edna (Paul) Stengel. She graduated from Mount Morris High School in 1934. Alma was a dietary cook at Pinecrest Nursing Home, in Mount Morris. An active member of St. James Lutheran Church, Alma also enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting.
Alma is lovingly survived by her sons, Floyd (Sandy) Derby of German Valley and Ralph (Elyzabeth) Derby of Forreston, grandchildren, Robert Derby of Caledonia, Wis., Jason (Mary) Derby of Kenosha, Wis., Kristin (Daniel Powell) Derby of Polo and Jessica (Dan Asche) Derby of Shannon, great-granddaughter, Madison Derby of Kenosha, sister, Lola Friemuth and brother, Oren Stengel, both of Mount Morris and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alma was predeceased by her son, Robert Derby in April, 1966, grandson, Carlton Derby and sister, Grace Young.
Funeral Information
Service is at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2006, in St. James Lutheran Church, Forreston, with visitation from 1:00 p.m., until service time; the Rev. Karen Capel will officiate. Burial in West Grove Cemetery, in Forreston.
