Obituary for Arthur "Art" A. Yates
Winnebago Arthur Art A. Yates, 90, of Winnebago, formerly of Mt. Morris, joined our Lord in heaven on Wednesday, October 12, 2016. He was born February 21, 1926 in rural Winnebago the son of Earl and Esther Gaston Yates. Graduated from Winnebago High School in 1945. Art married Wylladene R. Menge in Winnebago on February 20, 1948. He was employed by DeGrote Grain and Feed in Winnebago for 10 years. Art and Wylladene farmed in Winnebago from 1956 to 1967. He then worked as a Class A licensed wastewater operator for Winnebago, Pecatonica, Rochelle and Mt. Morris communities, retiring as superintendent in 1990 from Mt. Morris. During retirement Art and Willie resided in Mt. Morris during the summer and in Ruskin, FL during the winter. Art was a two term governor of the Mt. Morris Moose Lodge 1551 and a member of the Winnebago Masonic Lodge 745 and the Dixon Elks Lodge 779.

Art is lovingly survived by his wife of 68 years of marriage, Wylladene Yates of Winnebago; daughters, Linda (Larry) Bloomquist of Green Valley, AZ, Cheryl (Gene) Bloomquist of Winnebago; sons, Mark (Deb) Yates of Sun City AZ, Arthur Jr. (Mikki) Yates of Winnebago, Richard (Doreen) Yates of Winnebago; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Art was predeceased by his parents; grandson, Adam Yates; brother, Gordon Yates; sister, Donna Haile; Jennie Hose.

Funeral Information

Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2016, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago with Pastor Tim Spickler of New Life Bible Church near Winnebago officiating. Burial in Winnebago Cemetery near Winnebago. Visitation 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2016, in the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m.
