Machesney Park - Astrid R. "Curly" Rundle, 74, of Machesney Park, formerly of Rockford, died Thursday, September 29, 2011, in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born September 22, 1937 in Kenosha, Wis., the daughter of William and Elsa (Anderson) Meyer. Graduated from Harlem High School in 1955. Astrid married Harold J. "Rosie" Rundle on July 2, 1960, in Rockford. Astrid was a food service manager for the Rockford Public Schools. Her friends knew her as Curly. Curly enjoyed playing bingo, crafting, and meeting for lunch with her retired friends. She loved her dog, Buddy, as a faithful companion.
Astrid is lovingly survived by her children, Kathy (Jim Wrieth) Williams, Kenneth (Michelle) Rundle, Kevin (Kelli) Rundle and Kim (Pam) Rundle; grandchildren, Marcus Williams, Justin and Katlyn Rundle, Brittany and William Rundle, and Nicholas and Kristin Rundle; brother, Lee Meyer; sister, Georgia Dezek; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Harold, on November 24, 2000; and brother, Larry Meyer.
Service is at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2011, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with the Rev. Steve P. Shullanberger, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Winnebago, officiating. Burial in Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery, Pecatonica. Visitation 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 3, 2011, in the funeral home.
