Obituary for Betty J. Beuth
Pecatonica - Betty J. Beuth, 88, of Pecatonica, died Saturday, February 22, 2014, in Willows Health Center, Rockford. Born on January 26, 1926, in Pecatonica, the daughter of Merton and Beth (Doty) Howarth. Graduated from Pecatonica High School in 1944 and then McConnell Travel School. Betty married Harold M. "Duke" Beuth on February 20, 1954, in Pecatonica. She was employed by Chas. V. Weise Co., Dr. B. C. Schnell, Sr., Lake Central Airlines as a stewardess, and then JL Clark Manufacturing as a receptionist, for 34 years, retiring in 1988. Betty was a 50-year member of Eastern Star and White Shrine, American Legion Auxiliary, Pecatonica Historical Society, Winnebago County Farm Bureau, the Northern Illinois Corvette Club, National Council of Corvette Clubs (NCCC), and a member of the Red Hat Society. In addition, she was a friend of the First Congregational Church, Pecatonica, having served on the bazaar committee for many years. She enjoyed her weekly Thursday morning coffee group, traveling throughout the United States, including Alaska, Europe and the Panama Canal, and wintering in Texas for many years.

Betty is lovingly survived by her brother, Harry (Corinne) Howarth of Vancouver, Wash.; brother-in-law, Calvin "Skinny" Beuth of Egan, special niece, Linda (Dale) Remmers of Pecatonica; several other nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Bob and Judy Gard. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold, on June 16, 2002; brothers, Frank and Donald Howarth; nephew, Scott "Tim" Howarth; and niece, Denise Howarth.

Funeral Information

Celebration of life is at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 28, 2014, in First Congregational Church, 633 Reed Street, Pecatonica, with the Rev. Duane Hoffman officiating. Burial in Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery, Pecatonica. Visitation 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 27, 2014, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago.
