Cherished wife, mom and grandma

Rockford - Betty J. Hetrick, 78, of Rockford, went to be with the Lord Tuesday evening, September 5, 2006, in Rockford Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness. Born May 28, 1928, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Boyd and Gertrude (Kilker) Bridgeland. She graduated from Winnebago High School in 1945 and attended Rockford College for two years. Betty married Howard E. Hetrick on June 5, 1948, in Middle Creek Presbyterian Church, in Winnebago. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Illinois National Bank for six years and then a Chapter One aide for the Rockford Board of Education for 16 years, retiring in 1990. Betty was a member of First Evangelical Free Church in Rockford, the Maranatha Sunday school class and Centerville Community Club. Upon retirement, Betty and Howard enjoyed traveling and camping in their 5th-wheel, besides being snowbirds in Arizona, but her passion was being mom and grandma.

Betty is lovingly survived by her husband, Howard Hetrick of Rockford, daughters, Marcie (John) Scott of Oconomowoc, Wis., Lisa (Jim) Pinkerton of Carlsbad, Calif., Danita "Dee" Kleindl of Winnebago and Brenda (Keith) Cizowski of Brentwood, Tenn., grandchildren, Annie, Rachel and Bethany Scott, Jimmy, Kate and Leslie Pinkerton, Zachery and Andrew Kleindl and Allyson and Jared Cizowski, brother, Harold (Ruby) Bridgeland of Rockford, sister-in-law, Elaine Bridgeland of Rockford and several nieces and nephews.

Betty was predeceased by her daughter, Jodie Cae Hetrick on December 26, 1954 and her brother, Winston Bridgeland.

Funeral Information

Service is at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 9, 2006, in First Evangelical Free Church, 2223 Mulford Road, Rockford, with the Rev. Chuck Rife, Sr. officiating. Burial in Middle Creek Cemetery in Winnebago. Visitation 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 8, 2006, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago.
