Obituary for Betty Mae Norup
Betty Mae Norup, 70, of Loves Park, passed away Friday, January 29, 2021. She was born May 26, 1950 in Rockford, the daughter of William Zachariah and Vivian (Markson) Burton. She graduated from Winnebago High School. Betty married Richard Lawrence Norup on August 11, 1973 at Burritt Community Church.
She worked at the Rockford Clinic retiring in 2013 and was an active member of Burritt Community Church. She enjoyed yoga with her coworkers, crocheting, word search puzzles, traveling, baking cookies, cakes and brownies and most of all spending time with her family and grandchildren. Generally reserved and soft spoken her eyes lit up when she was around her family and grandchildren and her personality truly shined to the sound of 1950’s music.
Betty is survived by her son, Matthew (Jamie) Norup of Huntley, IL; daughter, Melissa (Lenny) Trujillo of Oglesby, IL; grandchildren, Jody Lore, Carolyn and Richard Norup, Josie, Luca and Finn Trujillo and she kept a special place in her heart for Nick, Michelle and Michael Dermody; brothers, John (Margie) Burton, Daniel (Deb) Burton; many nephews and nieces.
Betty is predeceased by her husband Richard Norup; brothers, Mark Burton, David Burton; sister, Helen Burton.
A walk through visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at the Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago. Private interment at North Burritt Cemetery near Winnebago. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
