
Winnebago - Charles "Charlie" B. Lingel, 83, of Winnebago, died Thursday morning, January 5, 2006, in Asta Care Center of Rockford, after a lengthy illness. Born February 18, 1922, in Mt. Morris, the son of Harry and Emma (Weasel) Lingel. He attended school in Stillman Valley. Charles married Betty Bellows, of Polo, on December 29, 1945. Together they farmed in the Byron area for over 20 years. Charles was an inspector for ten years at Chrysler, where he was known as "Auto". He then went to Mid-states Die Tool for five years, as a machinist. Charles enjoyed restoring antique vehicles and riding his motorcycle.
Charles is lovingly survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Lingel of Winnebago, children, Charolet (Fred) Hamilton of Camp Verde, Ariz., Jeffery (Elaine) Lingel of Winnebago, Jay (Jan) Lingel of Machesney Park and Jill (Mack Davis) Lingel of Winnebago, grandchildren, Dawn, Lynn, Joey, Travis, Chas, Jennifer, Jayme, Brandi and David, great-grandchildren, Zach, Ben, Ricky, Ashley, Katelyn, Jackie, Hannah, Haylee and Nevaeh, great-grandbaby to come, Payton, sister-in-law, Henrietta Lingel of Byron and several nieces and nephews.
Charles was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Robert and Harold Lingel.
Funeral Information
Memorial Service is at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2006, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with visitation 1:00 p.m. to service time. The Rev. Anita Stuart-Steva, pastor of Middle Creek Presbyterian Church in Winnebago will officiate. At Charles request, cremation rites were accorded.
