
Obituary for Charles E. Beck
Winnebago - Charles E. Beck, 86, of Winnebago, formerly of Bartlett, died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 5, 2015, in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born August 9, 1928, in Edmond, Kansas, the son of Henry and Lena (Adams) Beck. He served in the U.S. Army from January 18, 1951 to January 18, 1953. Charles married June Soden on September 16, 1950, in Robinson, Kansas. He was a member of the IBEW Local 196 for over 60 years and longtime member of the NRA. Charles enjoyed working in his flower gardens, feeding birds and squirrels, woodworking, fishing, camping, computers and photography.
Charles is lovingly survived by his daughter, Beverly (Bob) Johnson of Byron; son, Robert (Deborah) Beck of Rochelle; grandchildren, Aaron (Dawn) Johnson, Steven Beck, Nikki (Nate) Kunkel and Jennifer Beck; great-grandchildren, Latham, Olivia and Elijah Kunkel, and Stephanie (Stephen) Brown; great-great-granddaughters, Lucy and Fiona Brown; brothers, Clarence "Bud", Don and Ronnie; sisters, Phyllis, Helen and Joetta; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, June on March 14, 2010; and brothers, Kenny, John and Dean.

Service at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, the Pastor Matthew Smith, pastor of Winnebago United Methodist Church, officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded.
