Obituary for Charles L. Copeland
Byron - Charles L. "Charlie" Copeland, 74, of Byron, died Thursday, October 16, 2014, after a short illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born January 12, 1940, in Council Hill, the son of Elden and Alberta (Spensley) Copeland. He served in the U.S. Army. Charlie married Diane Allendorf on October 14, 1967, in St. Matthew Church, Shullsburg, Wis. He worked at Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. for 32 year and was a proud member of the Antique Town Rods of Galena. Charlie dearly loved his two granddaughters and attending their sporting events; his passion was street rod cars.
Charlie is lovingly survived by his wife, Diane; daughters, Laura (Mickey) Fitts and Debbie Copeland; and granddaughters, Meghan and Briley Fitts, all of Byron; brother, Wayne (Mary Jo) Copeland of Galena; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Spike. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Gary Copeland.

Service is at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2014, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with Pastor Randy Snider, of First Baptist Church, Byron, officiating. Burial in Byron Cemetery. Visitation 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 20, 2014, in the funeral home.
