Obituary for Charles Raymond Lewis
Winnebago - Charles "Charlie" Raymond Lewis, 83, of Winnebago, died Wednesday, October 14, 2015, in Rockford Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness. Born May 7, 1932, in Tunica, MS, the son of Roscoe and Margaret Lewis. Served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Charlie married Joanne J. Mack on June 2, 1956 in Madison, WI. He worked for Winnebago County Farm Service for over 25 years, and then worked maintenance at the Winnebago County Courthouse for 12 years. Charlie was a long-time member of the LLL Society and the Winnebago County Farm Bureau. He was also active with the Boy Scouts of America with his son. Charlie was a regular of the 5:30 a.m. coffee klatch at McDonald's and faithfully fed his birds and squirrels. He always enjoyed visiting his farming friends he met over the years at FS.

Charlie is lovingly survived by his wife, Joanne; children, Cheryl (Jerry) Juliano, Kris Bragg, and Charles "Ray" (Carol Miller) Lewis Jr., all of Rockford; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Harry and Roscoe Jr; and sisters, Virginia and Francis.

Charlie's family thanks the Winnebago Clinic for their care and support provided over the years.

Funeral Information

At Charlie's request, there will be no service and cremation rites have been accorded.
