Obituary for Charlotte M. Smith
Rockford Charlotte M. Smith, 75, of Rockford, died Thursday, May 5, 2016, in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born July 24, 1940, in Leaf River, the daughter of Clifford L. and Ethel A. (Taylor) Rood. Graduated from West High School in 1958. Charlotte was a bookkeeper for many years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed bargain shopping at flea markets.
Charlotte is lovingly survived by her sisters, Betsy Menge of Rockford, Mary (Carl) Talley of South Beloit, and Linda (Robert) Janes of Florence, KY; one niece; five nephews; and stepdaughters, LaWann Smith and Creshina Koteles. She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Mabel Rood; brother, Todd Rood; sister-in-law, Kay Rood; and brother-in-law, Clarence Menge.

Private visitation on Thursday, May 12, 2016, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago. Burial in Byron Cemetery.
