
Obituary for Clarence E. Landin
Winnebago – Clarence E. Landin, 85, of Winnebago, died Sunday, December 24, 2017 at his home. Born August 24, 1932 in Pecatonica, the son of Clarence Albin and Marguerite Leona (Chapman) Landin. Graduated from Pecatonica High School in 1950. Clarence married Helen Elizabeth Doty on February 26, 1955 at the First Congregational Church in Pecatonica. Veteran of the U. S. Navy serving from January 10, 1951 to October 27, 1954 on the USS Roanoke CL-145 and USS Albany CA-123 as a Quartermaster Second Class. Clarence first drove truck hauling livestock and then drove truck 37 years for Rockford Blacktop. He was a member of Rockford Area Teamsters Association, International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 325 Retirees Club, Tebala Shriners International, Tebala Shrine Club in Rockford on the Directors Staff, Loves Park Shrine Club, Freeport Masonic Temple Valley of Freeport as a 32nd Degree Mason, Star in the East Lodge 166 in Rockford, USS Roanoke CL-145 Association and the American Legion Post 197 in Pecatonica. Clarence enjoyed fishing, woodworking and was a diehard Chicago Bears fan.

Clarence is lovingly survived by his wife, Helen Landin of Winnebago; brother, Richard (Sally) Landin of Pecatonica; sister, Barbara (Alfred) Parent of Freeport; several nephews and nieces
Clarence is predeceased by his parents; son, Chad Landin on May 16, 2009.
