Obituary for Clarence W. "Cal" Haugh
German Valley - Clarence W. "Cal" Haugh, United States Air Force Retired, 81, of German Valley, died Sunday afternoon, August 5, 2007, in Stephenson Nursing Center, after a lengthy illness. Born January 17, 1926, in Clayton, Wis., the son of Emmert and Margaret E. (Stein) Haugh. Cal's career in the Air Force spanned 22 years and seven months, retiring as Master Sergeant on May 31, 1966. A professional truck driver for over 20 years, he then retired from the Teamsters Union. He operated Cal's Valley Inn, in German Valley for over 13 years. Cal was a member of the D.A.V., VFW Post No. 998 of Freeport, Eagles Club of Freeport, Tabala Shriners, and Masonic Lodge in Freeport. He enjoyed reading his western novels, loved traveling, especially to visit his Air Force buddies, and giving of himself to German Valley.

Cal is survived by his sons, Bruce (Twyla) Haugh, Scott Haugh, U.S. Army Retired, andBrian (Brenda) Haugh, all of Freeport; granddaughters, Marcia Haugh of Freeport and Elizabeth Haugh of Clinton; great-grandchildren, Destiny Haugh of Freeport and Damen Dubson of Clinton; brother, Wayne Haugh of Rockford and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cal was predeceased by his parents.

Funeral Information

Service is at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 9, 2007, in Genandt Funeral Home, 145 Church St., German Valley, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time; the Rev. Rick Neblock, pastor of German Valley United Methodist Church will officiate. At Cal's request, cremation rites will be accorded. Private burial will be in a national cemetery at a later date.
