
Obituary for Dawn Marie Powers
Dawn Marie Powers, 63, of Winnebago, passed away peacefully, Monday, February 22, 2021, at her home with her family by her side. She was born November 2nd, 1957, in Rockford, the daughter of Jerry Leonard and Ruth Ann (Lucas) Kowalewski. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1975. Dawn married her high school sweetheart, Calvin Clarence Powers, on July 24th, 1976 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Rockford. Dawn was a licensed Home Day Care Provider for 30+ years, touching the hearts of many children along the way.
Dawn and Calvin have two sons, Christopher and Benjamin, and two loving daughters-in-law, Jessica and Molly. Her happiest times were spending time with and attending activities of her five grandchildren, Ella, Kane, Hailey, Maci, and Lincoln. Another favorite hobby of her own was scrapbooking for her sons’ athletic achievements. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Pecatonica. She was an avid sports fan, supporting her sons, grandchildren, and local high school teams.

Dawn is survived by her loving husband, children, and grandchildren as well as her three siblings Lisa (Alan) Mera, Kathy Kowalewski, and Mark Kowalewski; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents.
A walk through visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 27, 2021, at New Life Bible Church, 2285 N. Hoisington Rd. and Highway 20, near Winnebago. Please follow wearing a mask and social distancing guidelines. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established. Cremation rites accorded with private interment at Calvary Cemetery near Winnebago.
