Obituary for Deborah J. Sallee
Deborah J. "Deb" Sallee, age 59, of Rockford, passed away peacefully at 2:37 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2012 at Swedish American Hospital after a sudden illness. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 16, 1952 in Macomb to William and Charlene (Hodges) Downey. She graduated from Macomb High School in 1970 and married Roger V. Sallee on June 4, 1972. They had just celebrated their 40 year anniversary.
Deb is lovingly survived by her husband, Roger; mother, Charlene; children, Nicole (Paul) Lindsay of Loves Park, Dustin Sallee of Rockford, and Cassidy (Greg) Leonard of Winnebago; grandson Cayden Leonard of Winnebago; her family, Randy and Pam Downey of Colchester, Aaron and Mary Downey of Bushnell, Gary Beck of Macomb, Denise and Tom Vogel of Blandinsville; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, William Downey; sister, Dianna Beck; grandparents; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Deb lived in the Good Hope area where she owned a beauty shop for many years with her mother. In 1990, she moved to Rockford and worked in the plumbing and heating business with her husband. During the last few years, she returned to her first career and became the manager of a salon supply store in Rockford.
The most important part of Deb's life was her family, and she loved to have her husband, children, son-in-laws, and grandson at her house as often as she could. Deb died just as she lived-giving to others. In death, she gave her organs so that others might live and in life she gave her time, attention and love to all who knew her. She loved sunsets, family vacations, and laughter. No one will ever forget her "party" potatoes and pecan pies. Her infectious smile, sparkling eyes, and beautiful voice will be missed, but she leaves behind many loving memories. She truly fit 100 years of love in her 59 years with us.
