Loving Dad, Grandpa, Great-grandpa, Brother and Uncle

Winnebago - Donald D. Crawford Sr., 69, of Winnebago, died Monday, July 16, 2012, in Rockford Memorial Hospital, following a sudden illness. Born September 26, 1942, in Rockford, the son of Dale and Anna Mae (Tilton) Crawford. Graduated from Durand High School in 1961. Don married Jean Frances Smith on November 30, 1963, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rockford. He was a sheet metal worker at Amerock for over 40 years. Don was a member of the Kepotah Sportsmen Club and Winnebago High School Fan Club. A sportsman at heart, he was active in several trap-shooting leagues, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and most recently atv-riding. Don dearly loved all the family gatherings, socializing with friends, and watching his children and grandchildren's sporting events.

Don is lovingly survived by his sons, Donald (Shirley) Crawford, Jr. and Daniel (Danetta Halvorsen) Crawford, both of Winnebago and Douglas (Marcie) Crawford of Loves Park; grandchildren, Nolan, Tayler, Delaney, Owen and Boden Crawford; stepgrandchildren, Lane (Beth) and Carlie Fraley; great-grandchildren, Mason Crawford and Landon, Olivia, Clare and Maya Fraley; sisters, Dixie Drummer and Jo-Ann (Barry) Webster; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Jean, on June 8, 2010; sister, Paulette Wilson; and brother-in-law, Marlin Garkey.

Funeral Information

Service at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 23, 2012, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with the Rev Joseph Warner, pastor of Bethany United Methodist Church, Rockford, officiating. Burial in Winnebago Cemetery. Visitation 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 22, 2012, in the funeral home.
