
Obituary for Donald L. Dieken
Pecatonica - Donald L. Dieken, 77, of Pecatonica, died Thursday afternoon, February 19, 2009, in Rockford Memorial Hospital, after a short illness. Born September 18, 1931, in Freeport, the son of John and Mary (Freese) Dieken. Graduated from Pecatonica High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 in Munich, Germany. Don married Irene Genandt on April 14, 1956, in Pecatonica United Methodist Church. He was a proud employee of Seward Ag. Don was a lifelong member of Pecatonica United Methodist Church and a member of Eugene J. Barloga Post No. 197 American Legion, in Pecatonica.
Don is lovingly survived by his wife, Irene Dieken of Pecatonica, two shining stars, Teresa (Keith) Kaczmarek of North Potomac, Md., and Terry Dieken (Peggy Severson) of Warren; grandchildren, Drew, Chase and Reed Kaczmarek and Sarah Severson Long and Lindsay Severson; sisters, Dolores (Gene) Hines and Norma McLane, both of Colorado; brother-in-law, Allan (Rhowena) Genandt of Forreston, sister-in-law, Marjorie Genandt of Forreston; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, brothers-in-law, William McLane and Ralph Genandt.

Service is at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 23, 2009, in Pecatonica United Methodist Church, 528 Washington St., Pecatonica, with the Rev. Amy L. Poust officiating. Burial in Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery, in Pecatonica. Visitation 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, February 22, 2009, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago.
