Obituary for Doris Ann Hermeling
Winnebago – Doris Ann Hermeling, 88, of Winnebago, passed Saturday, January 13, 2018 at home. Born April 4, 1929 in Pecatonica, the daughter of William Alvin and Winifred V. (Bowden) Christen. Graduated from Winnebago High School in 1947. Doris married Gustav “Gus” Martin Hermeling on January 20, 1952 at the Winnebago United Methodist Church. She worked as a nurse’s aid, but dearly loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, tatting, and helping her children, and grandchildren show their 4-H projects.

Doris is lovingly survived by her children, Martin Hermeling, Terry Hermeling, Sandy (Phil) Kramer; grandchildren, Daniel and Stacie Hermeling; several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Doris is predeceased by her parents; husband, Gus Hermeling; brothers, Burton Christen, Roger Christen, Donald Christen; sister, Jean Stauber.

Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018, in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 600 N. Horsman St., Rockford with Rev. Daniel C. Eddy, Pastor of Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beloit, WI officiating. Interment at North Burritt Cemetery near Winnebago. Visitation 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2018 at Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL.
