Beloved Wife & Mother
Winnebago - Doris J. Jones, 77, of Winnebago, died Saturday morning, March 6, 2010, in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born May 12, 1932, in Rockford, the daughter of Kenneth and Doris (Bolton) Holmes. Attended West High School and graduated from Rockford School of Practical Nursing as a LPN. Doris married Wayne Jones on May 23, 1953, in Grace United Methodist Church, Rockford. She was a CNA at Wesley Willows and then a LPN at Rockford Memorial Hospital for several years. Doris was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, its Mary Martha Circle, prayer chain, and sang in the choir. She was an avid gardener, pet lover and world traveler. A meticulous homemaker, she loved cooking and baking for her family.
Doris is lovingly survived by her husband, Wayne Jones, of Winnebago and sons, Scott Jones of Rockford and Brian Jones, DDS of Rockton. She was predeceased by her parents; stepfather, Walter Knipprath; and brother, Donald Greb.
Funeral Information
Service is at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 13, 2010, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until service time; the Rev. Steve P. Shullanberger, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Winnebago, will officiate. Burial in Winnebago Cemetery.
