
Obituary for Dorothy Kay Case
Winnebago – Dorothy Kay Case, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, 80, of Winnebago, passed away Friday, April 20, 2018 at Generations at Neighbors in Byron. Born January 22, 1938 in Rockford, the daughter of Charles Frederick and Evelyn Lorraine (Mills) Stotler. Graduated from West High School in 1955. Dorothy married Russell “Russ” Donald Case on February 22, 1958 in Rockford. She worked at Amerock on Auburn St. in Rockford, Brearley in Rockford and finished her career at Rockford Mutual Insurance, retiring in 1989. She was chosen to be a violinist for the Rockford Symphony Orchestra, but declined when she learned she was going to become a mother. Dorothy enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, boating and fishing in Hayward, WI and watching her grandchildren participate in their school activities. Her grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy.
Dorothy is lovingly survived by her daughters, Karen (Brian) Johnson of Winnebago, Denise Case of Winnebago; grandchildren, Brianna (Anthony) LaMarca of Pensacola, FL, Kelli Johnson of Winnebago; brothers; David (Jan) Stotler, Thomas (Judy) Stotler; sisters, Carol Barton, Nancy Wolfe, Margret Luter, Jean (Rob) Taft, Linda Condon, Fran Ruf; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins; lifelong best friend Shirley Ann Tudor.
Dorothy is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Russell Case; parents and brother, Charles Stotler.
Dorothy’s family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Generations at Neighbors in Byron and Transitions Hospice of Rockford for their compassion and care.
Memorial service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018, with a memorial visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. at Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago with Rev. Dr. Anita Stuart-Steva pastor of Middle Creek Presbyterian Church near Winnebago officiating. Cremation rites accorded with private interment at Winnebago Cemetery near Winnebago.
