Loving Dad and Grandpa

Winnebago - Duane W. "Dewey" Cunningham, 82, of Winnebago died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, in Medina Nursing Center, Durand. Born August 10, 1929, in Winnebago, the son of Robert J. and Edna M. (Norup) Cunningham. He attended Winnebago Schools and lived his entire life in Winnebago. Duane married Anna Mae Shaw on August 11, 1950, in Winnebago. He worked 43 years as a ready-mix concrete truck driver for ACME Ready Mix now known as Meyer Material in Loves Park. Duane was an active fire fighter for over 35 years with the Win-Bur-Sew Fire Department in Winnebago doing many things like driving the water tanker truck, working the fund raising breakfasts and being available for whatever needed to be done for the fire department. Member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 325. Duane never missed a family event and was always available and willing to help anyone. Special thanks to Steven Cunningham, Lindsay Carlson, the staff at Medina Nursing Center and Hospice Care of America for Duane's care.

Duane is lovingly survived by daughter, Beverly (Earl) Gaines of Rockford; son Randy (Tammy) Cunningham of Winnebago; three grandsons, Todd (Carlene McCormick) Lambert of Phoenix, Ariz., Steven (Lindsay Carlson) Cunningham of Winnebago, Scott (Angela Glessner) Cunningham of Winnebago; three brothers, Warren (Barb) Cunningham of Winnebago, Allen (Paulett) Cunningham of Loves Park, Raymond "Charlie" (Gwen) Cunningham of Winnebago; two sisters, Lois (James) Schultz of Winnebago, Alice (Howard) Binger of Rock City; several nephews and nieces. Predeceased by wife, Anna Mae Cunningham on April 22, 2004 and granddaughter Tammy Lambert at birth.

Funeral Information

Service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with Pastor Ken Schmoyer, of Winnebago Evangelical Fellowship Church, officiating. Burial in Winnebago Cemetery, Winnebago. Visitation 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 22 in the funeral home.
