Loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend

Winnebago - Dylan James Van Cura, 27, of Winnebago passed away Sunday, Oct. 30 2011, at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. Born January 23, 1984, in Rockford, the son of Wendy J. (Herbert) Van Cura McElmeel and Stephan T. Van Cura. Graduated from Winnebago High School in 2002 and attended Rock Valley College. Lived most of his life in Winnebago and worked for Commonwealth Edison and previously Anderson Toyota Scion Lexus of Rockford as a mechanic. Former president of the Winnebago Sno-gliders. Among his many interests and joys were music, wakeboarding, snowboarding, snowmobiles, BMX, soccer, trap shooting, Green Bay Packers, New York Yankees, working on anything with an engine including performance cars, trucks snowmobiles etc. and spending time with his loving mom Wendy, step-dad Mike, brother Shane and hundreds of amazing friends. He lived every minute of life with embracing warmth and love and will be remembered for his huge heart and winning smile. Dylan we love you and will never forget all the memories we made together.

Dylan is lovingly survived by mother and step-father, Wendy J. (Michael W.) McElmeel of Winnebago; father, Stephan T. Van Cura of Redwood City, Calif.; brother, Shane M. McElmeel of Winnebago; maternal grandfather, James R. Herbert of Winnebago; paternal grandmother, Doris V. Wright of Rockford, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Predeceased by paternal grandfather, James T. Van Cura; maternal grandmother, Elaine L. Herbert. Dylan will rest in peace by her side.

Funeral Information

Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 126 W. Fifth St., Pecatonica, with the Rev. Monsignor Robert Sweeney officiating. Burial in Willwood Burial Park, Rockford. Visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, Nov. 4 in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago.
