Obituary for Earl J. Adams
Roscoe - Earl J. Adams, 90, of Roscoe, died Friday morning, April 7, 2006, in River Bluff Nursing Home, in Rockford, after a short illness. Born March 4, 1916, in Rockford, the son of Robert G. and Emma E. (Moore) Adams. Graduated from Rockford Central High School in 1934. Earl married Ethel L. Leonard on November 30, 1940, in First Presbyterian Church of Winnebago. He served in the U.S. Army, playing trumpet in the Army band, stationed in Texas, from 1942 until 1945. Earl was a linotype machine operator for Rockford Typesetting Co., in Rockford, retiring in 1981. Upon his retirement, he loved creating stained glass work and taught the skill to others. Earl was a member of Roscoe United Methodist Church, and Moose Club of Rockford. In his younger years, Earl was a band member of the Music Men Band. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, loving being outdoors. Earl also enjoyed volunteer work with his wife, besides working crossword and jigsaw puzzles.

Earl is lovingly survived by his sons, Edward (Shu Shu) Adams of Las Vegas, Nev. and Jack (Mary Louise) Adams of Cherry Valley, daughter, Polly Schull of Fort Atkinson, Wis., ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and sisters-in-law, Betty Finley and Shirley Leonard, both of Winnebago.

Earl was predeceased by his wife, Ethel Adams on April 19, 2001, son-in-law, David Schull, grandson, Christopher Gregory, brother, Robert Adams and sisters, Irene Aschen and Bernice Holcomb.

Funeral Information

Memorial Service is at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2006, in Roscoe United Methodist Church, 10816 Main St., Roscoe, with the Rev. Jay D. Carr officiating. At Earl's request, cremation rites were accorded. Private burial of ashes in Willwood Burial Park in Rockford.
