
Obituary for Eldon C. Gaston
Winnebago - Eldon C. Gaston, 79, of Winnebago died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born Feb. 11, 1932, in Rockford the faithful and devoted son of Vernon and Viola F. Schwartz Gaston. Graduated from Winnebago High School. In high school he farmed and worked at Harry De Grote Grain and Feed. Eldon was a proud American joining the U. S. Army on March 18, 1952, he drove truck and was a mechanic, honorably discharged on Feb. 20, 1954. Then worked for John Bruning at Winnebago Grain and Feed. Member of Middle Creek Presbyterian Church, Winnebago. He learned and lived the Golden Rule, didn't criticize or complain. Always and forever a great brother to Mary L. "Spark" (Eldon) Logemann of Stockton, Gary D. (Judy) Gaston of Winnebago, Gayle C. Bodin of Rockford; wonderful uncle to five nieces and three nephews; two aunts; and one uncle. Predeceased by brother-in-law, James Bodin; two nieces and two nephews. A special thanks to Dr. Craig Rogers, Rockford Memorial Hospital staff, neighbors and friends.

Service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, the Rev. Anita Stuart-Steva, pastor of Middle Creek Presbyterian Church, Winnebago, officiating. Burial in Willwood Burial Park, Rockford. Visitation 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wed. Oct. 19 in the funeral home.
