Loving Mom, Grandma and Great-grandma
Winnebago - Evelyn E. Bachman, 96, of Winnebago, died Friday, October 31, 2014, in Neighbors Rehabilitation Center, Byron, after a lengthy illness. Born March 30, 1918, in Rockford, the daughter of Emil and Emma (Blomberg) Johnson. Graduated from Winnebago High School in 1936. Evelyn married William C. "Bill" Bachman on February 23, 1940 on the Johnson family farm in Winnebago. They farmed for about 20 years. She supplemented their income by cleaning homes in the Rockford area for several years. Evelyn was an active member of Middle Creek Presbyterian Church, and its circles, Winnebago County Home Extension and Westfield Grange. She enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, bowling with Bill and camping with her family in Texas.
Evelyn is lovingly survived by her children, Judith (Jack) Ackerman of Byron, Duane (Darlene) Bachman of Carlsbad, Calif. and David (Carol) Bachman of Winnebago; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Bill Bachman on September 2, 2003; daughter, Janet Bachman; brothers, Rick, Ray, and Clarence Johnson; and sisters, Fran Langley, Dorothy Calvert and Hazel Wittwer.
Evelyn's family thanks the entire staff of Neighbors Rehabilitation Center and Serenity Hospice for their loving care and support.

Service is at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 11, 2014, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with the Rev. Dr. Anita Stuart-Steva, pastor of Middle Creek Presbyterian Church, Winnebago, officiating. Burial in Willwood Burial Park, Rockford. Visitation 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 10, 2014, in the funeral home.
