
Obituary for Gary L. Stahl
Winnebago - Gary L. Stahl, 71, of Winnebago, died Friday morning, June 11, 2010, in Neighbors Rehabilitation Center, Byron. Born on May 17, 1939, in Rockford, the son of Lawrence and Ruth (Peterson) Stahl. Graduated as co-valedictorian from Winnebago High School in 1957; was a bronze tablet scholar at University of Illinois, graduating in agricultural engineering in 1961; received his master's degree there in 1963; and attended UW-Madison, towards his doctorate. Gary married Joyce Anderson on June 27, 1964, in Trinity Covenant Church, Oak Lawn. He was an Illinois registered professional engineer. In addition, he farmed his entire life and was a junior high and high school basketball referee over 20 years. Gary was a member of American Society of Agricultural Engineers, Tau Beta Pi, and Winnebago County Farm Bureau.
Gary is lovingly survived by his wife, Joyce Stahl; children, Ann L. (John) Collet, Jane L., Mark L. (Angie), John L., and Karl L. (Dawn) Stahl; grandchildren, Caroline, Carina, Christopher, Carson, Colin, and Matthew; sister-in-law, Pat Stahl; and several nieces and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, David Stahl.

Service is at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 14, 2010, in Salem Lutheran Evangelical Church, 1629 S. 6th St., Rockford, with the Rev. William T. Dahlberg officiating. Cremation Rites will be accorded. Visitation 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, June 13, 2010, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago.
