
Obituary for George Benjamin Haack
George Benjamin Haack, 90, of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, formerly of Rockford, passed away February 15, 2022 at Southfork Therapy & Living Center in Salem, Arkansas. He was born December 28, 1931 in Waterloo, Iowa to Benjamin Henry and Effie Mae (Huting) Haack. He graduated from Winnebago High School.
George married Barbara Irene Cole on June 30, 1951 in Saint Patrick Church in Rockford. He became an amateur ham radio operator, enjoyed fishing, family camping trips and was an avid photographer using his children for models and developing his own photos. He retired from his work as plant superintendent with the Pepsi Cola Company.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Haack; a daughter, Penny Haack; and a sister, Doris McLaren.
Survivors include his daughters: Patricia (William) Gutierrez of Estero, Florida, Peg (Larry) Hopwood of Cape Coral, Florida, Georgetta Haack of Cape Coral, and Judith (Marshall) Johnson of Rincon, Georgia; a son, Dennis Haack of Wisconsin; ten grandchildren: Adam, Katie, Kenny, Jordan, Karri, Lilly, Jeremiah, Kala, Jamie, and Ron; several great-grandchildren.
A sister, Esther DiGiovanni of Machesney Park, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Shirley Cole; two brothers-in-law: Richard McLaren and Marwood Allen; numerous nieces and nephews; many other relatives and good friends.
Memorial visitation 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago.
Cremation rites accorded with interment at Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery near Pecatonica. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in George’s name.
