Obituary for H. Donald Bachman

Winnebago - H. Donald "Don" Bachman, 88, of Winnebago, died Thursday afternoon, March 15, 2007, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born December 21, 1918, in Oregon, the son of Charles and Elizabeth "Bessie" (Mayo) Bachman. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. Don married Eva Jean Clark on September 11, 1948, in Durand. He first farmed and then was a machinist at J.I. Case and Ingersoll Milling, retiring in 1982. Don was a member of First Presbyterian Church, in Winnebago. A farmer at heart, he loved gardening, and also enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, golfing, camping and wintering in Texas.

Don is lovingly survived by his wife, Eva Jean Bachman of Winnebago, children, Donna Works of Carson City, Nev., Connie (Whitey) Coots of Rockford and Jim (Christy) Bachman of Leaf River; grandchildren, Ryan (Kendelee) Works and Justin Works, both of Las Vegas, Nev., Tiffany Coots of Rockford and Josh and Jami Bachman of Leaf River; stepgrandchildren, Carrie, Mike and Steve (Heidi) Coots and Tara and Breann Dietrich; three stepgreat-grandchildren; brother, Russell (Marjorie) Bachman of Rockford; sister, Marian Kessler of McComb; several nieces and nephews; special friends Lynn and Judi Coots of Winnebago and his dog, MacKenzie.

Don was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Irwin, Lyndon and William Bachman, and son-in-law, Bill Works.

Funeral Information

Service is at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 19, 2007, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with the Rev. Steve P. Shullanberger, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, in Winnebago, officiating. Burial in Willwood Burial Park, in Rockford. Visitation 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, March 18, 2007, in the funeral home.
