Loving Husband, Dad, Grandpa Peaches, Paw-Paw and Great-PaPa

Winnebago - Harry F. Sandager, 83, of Winnebago, died Monday, October 19, 2015, in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford, with his loving family at his side. Born December 1, 1931, in Rockford, the son of Lauritz and Helen (Colby) Sandager. He served in the U.S. Air Force from May 12, 1948 to July 9, 1952, during the Korean War. Harry married Arlene Sigler on July 11, 1953 in Messiah Lutheran Church, Rockford. He worked for Illinois Bell for 27 years and in his retirement years, enjoyed working for the Byron Forest Preserve District's Prairie View Golf Course. Harry was a member of Eugene J. Barloga Post No. 197 American Legion, Pecatonica, the Moose Club, and Telephone Pioneers of America. He enjoyed golfing, working on the yard, bowling and was an avid Green Bay Packer and Chicago Cubs fan. Harry dearly loved watching his great-grandchildren play sports.

Harry is lovingly survived by his wife, Arlene; children, Brian (Susan) Sandager of Winnebago, Shelby (Steve) Butler of Winnebago, Kevin (Lisa) Sandager of Winnebago and Kerry (Lisa) Sandager of Rockford; Grandpa's girls, Angela, Jennifer, Amy, Amanda, Claudia, Alexandra and Stephanie; Grandpa's boys, Shawn, Joshua and David; 17 great-grandchildren; brother Ray (Sue) Loberg of Little Elm, TX; sister-in-law, Juanita Sandager of Rockford; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; stepfather, Hans Loberg; and brother, Lawrence Sandager.

Funeral Information

Service at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2015, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with visitation from 10:30 a.m. until service time; Pastor Cory Bolduc, of Crossroads Community Church, Winnebago, will officiate. Burial in Winnebago Cemetery.
