Obituary for Helen L. Book
Freeport - Helen L. Book, 82, of Freeport, died Wednesday morning, December 29, 2010, in FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport, after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 9, 1928, in Leaf River, the daughter of Harry and Anna (Arens) Nichols. She graduated from Leaf River High School in 1947. Helen married Albert W. Book on December 6, 1947, in Mount Morris. They farmed together in rural Rockford, Byron and then Pecatonica. Helen was a caregiver at St. Francis School for Exceptional Children, Freeport, for five years. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Pecatonica. Helen enjoyed crafting, cooking, watching her favorite soaps, reading, and working puzzles. Being a passionate homemaker, she cherished her time spent with the loves of her life, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Helen is lovingly survived by her son, Dennis (Denise) Book of Freeport; daughters, Peggy (Fredric) Schneiderman of Forreston, Pamela (David) Riley of Freeport, Linda L. Book of Freeport, Lisa (Scott) Bickett of Sublette and Lori (Patrick) Lozeau of Sycamore; grandchildren, Kevin, Brian (Miranda) and Elizabeth Book, Christopher (Jessica), Jonathan (Laurie) and Michael Schneiderman, Kimberli Zimmerman, Shannon Riley, Emma and Evan Bickett , and Dylan and Ella Lozeau; great-grandchildren, Corinne and Mitchell Schneiderman, Alexis and Quentin Lopez, and Jaelin Campbell; sister, Barbara A. Kump of Leaf River; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Albert Book on November 30, 1999; brother, Harry Nichols, Jr.; and sister, Dorothy Grove.

Funeral Information

Service is at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2011, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with the Rev. Terry L. Theiss, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, Pecatonica, officiating. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport. Visitation 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.,
Sunday, January 2, 2011, in the funeral home.
