Obituary for Howard L. McCoy
Davis - Howard L. McCoy, 87, of Davis, formerly of the Seward area, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather went to eternal rest Monday, March 29, 2010. Howard was born to John and Edna (Parsons) McCoy on February 8, 1923, near Cavour, S.D. He graduated from Leaf River High School in 1940. Howard married Cathryn Hinton on May 30, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. They were near their 68th year of marriage. He was owner and operator of "Mac's Service Equipment" for 40 years and enjoyed it very much. His son, Rex, and friend, Lyle Brown, worked with him in his company. Howard and friends, Dutch Leerhoff, Marlow Werkheiser and son, Dennis McCoy, known as the "Melody Men", played music in the area for many years.

Howard is lovingly survived by his wife, Cathryn McCoy; their ten children, Sharon (Roger) Rampenthal of Lena, Dennis (Loretta) McCoy of Winnebago, Patricia (John) Edwards, of Rockton, Maureen McCoy of The Villages, Fla., Nancy Brown of Denver, Colo. Rebecca Bogardus of Milwaukee, Wis., Rex (Becky Jo) McCoy of German Valley, Randall (Nancy Jo) McCoy of Seward; Sally (William) Bremer of Lake Summerset and Laura (Joe) Spinello of Davis; 21 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Joy Robinson of Rockford and Glorya (Karl) Kayser of Lena; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Roger McCoy; and sisters, Irene McCoy and Vera Baker.

Funeral Information

Service is at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 2, 2010, in Seward Congregational Church, with the Rev. Ronald C. Farb officiating. Burial in Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery, Pecatonica. Visitation 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 1, 2010 in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago.
