Devoted Husband, Dad, & Papa
Rockford - Jack D. Bull, 73, of Rockford, died Saturday morning, May 3, 2008, in his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born October 29, 1934, in Perryville, Ark., the son of Lawrence and Iva (Payne) Bull. Upon graduating from high school in Campbell, Mo., in 1952, he moved to Rockford. Jack married Shirley King on August 1, 1953; later they divorced. Jack married Carole Ishmael on June 27, 1985, in Rockford. Jack was a truck driver until 1962, driving for Larson Sand and Gravel and later for Charley Ind. He later started his own home building business until 1973 when he established Bull Well Drilling, retiring in 2002. Jack enjoyed gardening at his home and hunting on the family farm. Most of all he loved spending time with his family; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to him.
Jack is lovingly survived by his wife, Carole Bull of Rockford; daughters, Kathy (Bill) Schuur of Rockford, Laurie (Pete) Raum of Leaf River, Debbie (Detroy) Marshall of Rockford, and Cindy Stout of Winnebago; stepdaughters, Donna (Tomas Hernandez) Ishmael of Rockford, Zena (Harvey) Foster and Shirley Thompson, both of Machesney Park; grandchildren, Jackie (John) Jackson, Kelly (Luke) Case, Brian Bull, Dave (Missy) and Kris (Tina) Schuur, Rebecca and Jennifer Raum, Tim Prince, Carson Stout, Detroy, III, Hannah, Adam and Anthony Marshall, Harvey, Jr. and Courtney Foster, and Matt Thompson; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Bob (Betty) Bull of Pecatonica and John (Myrna) Bull of Grove, Okla.; sisters, Billy Ruth Maxwell of Kennett, Mo., Berneice Maxwell of Rockford, Doris McNatt of Pittsburg Texas and Joyce (Garry) Lassiter of Naylor, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jack was predeceased by his parents; son, Jim Bull; son-in-law, Dewayne Thompson; and parents-in-law, Wilbur and Anna Siebarth.
Funeral Information
Service is at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, May 8, 2008, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with visitation 1:00 p.m. until service time; Pastor Tim Spickler, of New Life Bible Church, in Winnebago, will officiate. At Jack's request, cremation rites were accorded.
