Obituary for James Z. Smith
Winnebago - James Z. "Zack" Smith, 30, of Winnebago, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016, in Rockford Memorial Hospital, of an accidental drug overdose. James' addiction and cause of death is heartbreaking to his family; but the addiction did not define him. Born March 6, 1986, in Rockford, the son of William A. and Loretta K. (Armstrong) Smith. James was a converter operator at R.T.U.I., Houston, TX. Loving being an outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and shooting. James also enjoyed experimenting in the kitchen as a "master chef". He dearly loved hanging out with friends, and will be greatly missed.
James is lovingly survived by his parents, William and Loretta Smith of Winnebago; brother, Donald (Nicole) Smith of Cypress, TX; grandparents, Donald and Doris Smith of Winnebago; nephews, Austin Smith of Winnebago, Donald Smith Jr. of Cypress; and niece, Miakoda Smith of Cypress; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents, William and Betty Armstrong; dear uncle, Charles Armstrong; and faithful companion, Chaos (Cheeks).
