Obituary for Janet R. Gerdes
Pecatonica - Janet R. "Sammy" Gerdes, 57, of Pecatonica died Monday, April 30, 2012, in her sister's home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born August 23, 1954, in Freeport, the daughter of Robert and Mary Lea (Mon) Gerdes. Graduated from Winnebago High School in 1972. Sammy was a waitress for years at the Crooked River Caf, in Pecatonica.

Sammy is lovingly survived by her mother, Mary Lea Gerdes of Marengo; brothers, Tom (Rosa) Gerdes of Monroe Center and Jim (Joella) Gerdes of Rockford; sister, Sharon (Ron) Andrews of Marengo; three nephews; seven nieces; 19 great-nephews and great-nieces; and her 14 year-old yorkie, Reagan. She was predeceased by her father on September 29, 2011.

Funeral Information

Service at 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2012, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with visitation from 5:00 p.m. until service time; the Rev. Randy Grimes will officiate. Cremation rites were accorded.
