
Obituary for Janice "Jan" Faye Mason
Winnebago – Janice “Jan” Faye Mason, 76, of Winnebago, left us on Friday, April 27, 2018 to join her late husband “Chuck”, family and friends after a long courageous battle, surrounded by her family at home. Born June 28, 1941 in Evarts, KY, the daughter of Louis “Bill” William and Dortha Virginia (Hembre) Hall Sr. She moved to Illinois at an early age with her family. Jan married Charles “Chuck” James Mason on June 29, 1968 in the Winnebago United Methodist Church. She was co-owner and cook at the M & M Café in Winnebago, was a caterer, and head cook for the Winnebago School District 323 prior to retiring. She also worked many years at Amerock in Rockford.
Jan was a wonderful, loving wife, mother, mamaw, sister, aunt and friend. Her family was her main ambition in life but she made time to be with her friends at bingo night and card clubs.
Jan’s family would like to thank Mercy Health and Home Hospice for their professional and loving care with a special thank you and love to her nurses, cna’s, nurse and friend Amy Hurd. And special thank you to Becky Tedrick and Kristin Tedrick.
Jan is lovingly survived by her children, Jim (Pam) Howard of Winnebago, Sandi (Luke) Burtman of Davis Junction, Richard (Laura) Mason of Winnebago; grandchildren, Morgan (Michael) Ashworth, McCahl Murray, Kristen Mason, Kamryn Mason; brothers, Leroy Hall of Rockford, Frank (Pat) Hall of Dixon; sisters, Mary Skidmore of Rockford, Debbie Dill of Rockford; numerous nephews and nieces; special friends Colleen Benters and Trish Bileto.
Jan is predeceased by her husband Chuck Mason, parents; brothers, Lewis “Louie” Hall, Bobby Hall; twin brother, Jim Hall; sisters, Billie Allen, Phyllis “Sue” Mitchell, Cherry Johnson.
Funeral service 12:00 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2018, with a visitation starting at 10:00 a.m., at Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago with Richard Coffell officiating.
