Obituary for JoAn E. Hazzard
Rockford - JoAn E. Hazzard, 71, of Rockford, formerly of the Winnebago-Seward area, went in peace and joined her son, Tuesday, December 28, 2010. Born January 5, 1939, in Freeport, the daughter of Robert and Jane (Gutshall) Abbott. Graduated from Pecatonica High School in 1957. JoAn married Roger L. Hazzard on January 31, 1959. She was a receptionist for Dr. Fred Smith. After raising her sons, JoAn was a realtor for Golden Key Realty. She loved music and playing the organ. She also enjoyed cake decorating, flower-arranging, and collecting antique dishes.
JoAn is lovingly survived by her son, Mark (Ellen) Hazzard and grandchildren, Megan and Alex Hazzard, all of Winnebago; mother, Jane Beckstrom of Loves Park; half-brother Bill Abbott of Freeport; and cousins. She was predeceased by her father; son, Brian, on October 28, 1974; step-father, Harold Beckstrom; and step-mother, Cecilia Abbott.
Funeral Information
Service is at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 3, 2011, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until service time; the Rev. Ronald C. Farb, pastor of Seward Congregational Church will officiate. Cremation rites were accorded. Private burial in Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery, Pecatonica, at a later date.
