
Obituary for John M. Blottenberger
Beloved husband, husband, father, stepfather and grandfather
Machesney Park - John M. Blottenberger, 78, of Machesney Park, died Monday evening, March 6, 2006, in Rockford Memorial Hospital, after a lengthy illness. Born January 23, 1928, in Frederick, Md., the son of John Morgan and Helen Virginia (Rodger) Blottenberger. He moved to Rockford from Maryland in 1948. John married Velma (Hacker) Ditsworth on May 15, 1965. She died April 2, 1994. John married Kathleen "Kathy" (Park) Chandler on September 22, 1997. He was employed at Barber Colman Co., in the machine and tool division for 32 years, retiring in 1986. John was a member of the Moose Club in Belvidere and the Illinois Retirees Camping Club. In his younger years, he enjoyed dancing and fishing for bass, and later enjoyed woodworking and crafts.
John is lovingly survived by his wife, Kathy Blottenberger of Machesney Park, daughters, Teresa (Marvin) Josephsen and Kathy (Fred) McBride, both of Ashton, Billy Jo (Bob) Mowery of Dixon, Mickey Duncan of Okla., and Tammy Marsh, stepchildren, James (Janice) Ditsworth of Rockford, Jon (Norma) Ditsworth of Machesney Park, Jeanne (Dennis) Doran of Rockford, Janet (Arnie) Schelling of Seward, Dixie Ditsworth of Warren, Lauralee Ditsworth of Loves Park, Dorothy (Donald) Joesten of Fountain Hills, Ariz. and Roxie Constant of Rockford, numerous grandchildren, brothers, James D. Hertz of Reisterstown, Md., and Joseph H. Hagelin of Frederick, Md., sisters, Barbara M. Lee of Rockford, Catherine E. Hawk of Emmitsburg, Md., and June D. (Dannie) Schaffer of Frederick, Md., and numerous nieces and nephews.
John was also predeceased by his stepchildren, Jay and Jack Ditsworth, brother, George Hagelin, and sisters, Helen Virginia Mercer, Matilda C. Duffy and Anna Jane Forney.
Funeral Information
Service is at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 10, 2006, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with visitation 10:00 a.m. until service time. The Rev. Paul Walker, pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church in Rockford, will officiate. Burial in Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery in Pecatonica.
