Obituary for Judy Kay Gaston
Judy Kay Gaston, 78, of Winnebago, died Thursday, May 20, 2021, at Bickford Senior Living in Rockford. She was born October 1, 1942 in Rockford, the daughter of Joseph Lyle and Vera Katherine (Griepentrog) Brown. She graduated from West High School in Rockford in 1960 and attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. Judy married Gary Dennis Gaston on September 4, 1965 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rockford.

Judy worked at Illinois Bell Telephone Company in Rockford as a phone operator and then thirty years at the Rockford Post Office where she met Gary. She loved her family, taking very good care of them and was a wonderful mother. She also loved her pets, was ambitious and enjoyed working outdoors.

Judy’s family would like to thank Bickford Senior Living and Heartland Hospice for taking care of Judy.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Dianna (Rory) Camplain of Rockford; grandson, David (Courtney Lee) Owens of Rockford; brother, Michael (Penny) Brown of Loves Park; several nephews and nieces

Judy is predeceased by her husband of fifty years, Gary “Yup Yup” Gaston; sons, Douglas Gaston, Mathew Gaston; daughter, Lori Gaston; sister, Janice Stolgren.

A private graveside service will be at North Burritt Cemetery near Winnebago with Reverend Lisa Lopez-Meyer of the First Presbyterian Church of Winnebago officiating. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established for Heartland Hospice in Rockford.
