Cherished wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother, Laurel “Laurie” E. Brigham (née Candy), 71, of Winnebago, IL went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 17, 2022, following a courageous 4 ½ year battle with multiple illnesses and with her loving husband by her side. She was born on May 17, 1951, in Berwyn, IL, the daughter of Albert B. and Jeannette D. (Beard) Candy.
Laurel’s greatest desire in life was to be a wife and mother and that desire was realized when she married the love of her life, her wonderful, devoted husband, John. Two amazing sons, Chad and Eric, were born, making the family complete.
Laurel was the consummate homemaker and her home was always a happy, peaceful home. She had a warm, ready smile and a welcoming manner, which drew people to her. She loved hosting Holiday dinners and took pride in creating stunning table settings for those gatherings. Laurel also loved walks in forest preserves with her husband and two sons. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, who adored her. She was the best wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, sister-in-law, and mother-in-law that one could ask for.
Laurel is survived by her husband, John Brigham; sons Chad (Charisa) Brigham of St. Louis, MO, and Eric (Valerie) Brigham of Montgomery, IL; three grandchildren, Noelle, Evan and Ava Brigham; sisters, Jeannette (Max) Sculley of Coppell, TX, and Lynn Heffran of Rockford, IL; brother, Blair Candy of Carrollton, TX; nephews and nieces, Bradley Heffran of Hoffman Estates, IL, John (Mallory) Dobbs of Habersham, GA; Laura (Jamie) Ban-Villarreal of Coppell, TX, Rachel Heffran of Roselle, IL, Emily (John) Logan of Winnebago, IL, Ashley (Grant) Sjostrom of Rockford, IL, Noelle Orloff of Bozeman, MT, Sara (Ben) Stowe of West Durham, ME, and Sarah and Abby Horn; sisters-in-law, Jane Brigham of Rockford, IL, and Nancy (Joel) Horn of San Tan Valley, AZ; and brother-in-law Rich (Chris) Brigham of Windham, ME.
She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Anita Candy and Michelle Cronin; and niece, Heather Ban.
