Obituary for Lavonne Anne Oltmanns
Byron - LaVonne Anne Oltmanns, 71, of Byron, died suddenly Monday morning, November 24, 2008, in her home. Born December 17, 1936, in Pearl City, the daughter of Emmert and Maude (Guentner) Duitsman. She graduated from Pearl City High School in 1954. LaVonne married Alvin Oltmanns on May 6, 1984, in Rockton. She was in banking for more than 40 years. LaVonne was an active member of Ebenezer Reformed Church, in Oregon, and its Ladies Aid, and was a volunteer for several organizations, including Neighbors Nursing Home and Meals On Wheels. She enjoyed cooking and sewing, and loved going on day trips and working with her husband on the farm. Being Grandma was LaVonne's pride and joy.

LaVonne is lovingly survived by her husband, Alvin Oltmanns of Byron; children, Deb (Doug) Wilson of Dekalb, Brad (Elisa) Sargent of Winnebago, Judy (Bill) Hagemann of Stillman Valley and Jill (Frank) Smice of Leaf River; grandchildren, Cody Wilson, Mason and Flynne Sargent, Bryant and Bryce Hagemann, and T. J., Tyler and Torey Smice; sister, Donna Burner of Elgin; step-sisters, Rita and Diane; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; first husband, Sterling Sargent in 1979; and sister, Shirley Seaworth.

Funeral Information

At LaVonne's request private service on Friday, November 28, 2008, with the Rev. Philip A. Rauwerdink, pastor of Ebenezer Reformed Church, in Oregon, officiating. Burial in Ebenezer Cemetery, in Oregon. Her family was assisted by Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago.
