Obituary for Leland Wesley Johnson
Leland Wesley Johnson, 76, of Winnebago, died Friday, May 8, 2020, at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born February 29, 1944 in Evergreen Park, IL the son of Torsten and Lillian Elizabeth (Carlson) Johnson. He graduated from Winnebago High School in 1962. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Leland married Karen Sue Eckberg on June 7, 1969 at the Walnut United Methodist Church in Walnut, IL. He completed a four year tool and die apprenticeship and then worked at several tool and die companies in Rockford before founding Ka-Lee Tool and Die in Winnebago in 1987. Leland loved working in his shop, camping and fishing trips to Door County with his family, monthly coffees with his high school classmates and pulling his high school class float with his antique tractor in the Winnebago Fourth of July parade.

Leland is survived by his wife of fifty years, Karen Johnson of Winnebago; sons, Justin (Christine) Johnson of Cedarburg, WI, Brennan Johnson of Pinckney, MI; three granddaughters, Addison Johnson, Genevieve Johnson and Margaret Johnson; brothers, Wayne Johnson, Brian Johnson; several nephews and nieces.

Leland is predeceased by his parents; brother, Gordon Johnson.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation rites accorded with interment at Willwood Burial Park in Rockford. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
