
Obituary for Leslie "Les" Roy Lovett
Leslie “Les” Roy Lovett, 86, of Winnebago, died Sunday, October 4, 2020, at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford. He was born October 11, 1933 in Ridott, the son of Roy Arnold and Lucille Ruth (Borgmann) Lovett. He was a tank commander serving in the United States Marine Corps from February 24, 1953 to February 23, 1956. Les married Marna J. Dolan on January 5, 1958 at the First Congregational Church in Pecatonica.
He retired from Cassens Transport Company at the Chrysler assembly plant in Belvidere. He was a member of Teamsters Local 325 in Rockford. Les was known for restoring antique John Deere tractors and a few others and wood working.
Les is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marna Lovett of Winnebago; sister, Marian Pedrick of Winnebago; several nephews and nieces including special nieces, Elizabeth Strey and fellow Marine, Biff and special nephew and master farmer, Brian Lovett; and owned by Tuhts, his chihuahua.
Les is predeceased by his brother, Ivan Lovett; niece, Lori “Babe” (Lovett) Schweinler.
Graveside service 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery, 184 S. Pecatonica Rd., Pecatonica with Pastor Mike Engle of the First Presbyterian Church of Winnebago officiating. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established. Please follow wearing a mask and social distancing guidelines.
