Rockford - Manuel H. Roque, 76, of Rockford, died Tuesday night, November 27, 2007, in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford. Born January 10, 1931, in Lytle, Texas, the son of Simon and Natalie (Hernandez) Roque. He was a farmhand, training the staff in the tomato fields in Rochelle and then was a factory worker in various local plants. Manuel was always working, giving a helping hand to anyone of need.
Manuel is lovingly survived by his wife, Christina Morris of Rockford; nine children, Juan (Lupe) Roque, Simon (Dora) Roque, Delores (Pablo) Puente, Dianna Mendoza, Gilberto (Virginia) Roque, Jose (Patricia) Roque, Guadulupe Roque, Carlos (Sheila) Roque and Marguarita (Raul) Belmontes; seven step-children, Deborah Widell, Bonnie (Harry) Thompson, Donald (Penny) Widell, Patrick Morris, Kim Morris, Michael (Helen) Morris and Mark (Betty) Cook; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; brothers, Tony (Frances), Nick (Stella) and Pascual (Deb) Roque; and sisters, Janie (Andy) Ortiz, Lucy Aries and Irene (Jessie) Ortiz.
Manuel was predeceased by his parents; first wife, Maria Roque; son, Jesus Roque; and brothers, Joe and Resugio Roque.
Funeral Information
Visitation 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 2, 2007, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago. At Manuel's request, cremation rites will be accorded.
