Beloved Wife, Mother & Grandmother
Winnebago - Marianne Bridgeland, 75, of Winnebago, died Tuesday morning, January 8, 2008, in SwedishAmerican Hospital, Rockford, after a lengthy illness. Born April 18, 1932, in Ridge Farm, the daughter of Frank and Gertrude (Ellis) Fisher. She graduated from Armstrong High School in 1950 and from the University of Illinois in 1954 majoring in home economics education. Marianne married James Bridgeland on June 13, 1954, in Champaign. She was a secretary at Woodward Governor Co., in Loves Park. Upon retirement in 2000, Marianne worked part-time at Aqua-Aerobic Systems, Inc., in Rockford. She was an active member of Middle Creek Presbyterian Church, including serving as the Sunday school superintendent, elder, vocal and bell choirs, Mariners, and the Women's Association, the Rock River Quilters and past president of the Winnebago County Homemaker's Association. Marianne enjoyed quilting, needlework and cooking for her family.
Marianne is lovingly survived by her husband, Jim Bridgeland of Winnebago; children, Charles (Cheryl) Bridgeland of Freeport, Janet Bridgeland (Tom Frawley) of Rockford, Jean Bridgeland of Rockford, Tom (Mitsuko) Bridgeland of Byron and Ken (Michele) Bridgeland of Rockford; grandchildren, Dan Bridgeland, Hannah (Brandon) Lamm, Sam, David and Mary Bridgeland, Jennifer Bridgeland and Katie Frawley, and Aya and Rhea Bridgeland; brother, Carl (Audrey) Fisher of Campbell, Calif.; sisters, Norma (Joseph) Corsello of Morris and Martha (Harold) Edwards of Champaign; sister-in-law, Marie Fisher of Oakwood and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marianne was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Robert Fisher.
Funeral Information
Service is at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2008, in Middle Creek Presbyterian Church, 12473 Montague Road, Winnebago with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time; the Rev. Anita Stuart-Steva will officiate. At Marianne's request, cremation rites were accorded.
