Obituary for Marie H. "Mickey" Fuls

German Valley - Marie H. "Mickey" Fuls, 104, of German Valley, died Sunday morning, May 13, 2007, in Stephenson Nursing Center, Freeport. Born March 25, 1903, in George, Iowa., the daughter of Henry and Hannah (Greenfield) Willemssen. Marie married Albert Fuls on January 13, 1930, in George. They farmed together in rural German Valley for 30 years. A talented seamstress, she was employed as an alterations person at J. C. Penney, in Freeport for many years. Marie was an active member of Silver Creek Reformed Church and its women's guild. Her pastime activities included reading and writing journals and poetry. Marie crocheted and donated over 500 baby bonnets to Freeport Memorial Hospital. She also created quilts for each of her grandchildren.

Marie is lovingly survived by her daughters, Ruby (Lester) Wichman of Baileyville and Ruth (Ronald) Dwyer of Fremont, Wis.; daughter-in-law, Kay Fuls of Mosinee, Wis.; grandchildren, Kathy (Michael) Goers, Rodney (Melanie) Wichman, Bonnie (Tom) Bartow, Robert (Jane) Fuls, James (Brenda) Fuls, Jeffrey Fuls, Christina (Michael) Pascal, Todd Dwyer, Faith Abbott, and Matthew (Shelly) Dwyer; 18 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren and sister, Eva Suess of Freeport.

Marie was predeceased by her husband, Albert Fuls on October 11, 1987; son, Allen Fuls on October 17, 2001; brothers, Irvin and Thomas Willemssen and sisters, Ruth Harms, Carrie Geerdes, Esther Rust, Lillian Hendricks, Lucy Geerdes and Rhoda Koerselman.

Funeral Information

Service is at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2007, in Silver Creek Reformed Church 326 S. Bunker Hill Rd., German Valley with the Rev. Randall P. Knoll officiating. Burial in Silver Creek Cemetery in German Valley. Visitation 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 15, 2007, in Genandt Funeral Home 145 Church St., German Valley.
