
Winnebago - Marion W. Becker, 87, of Winnebago, died Saturday morning, September 17, 2011, in her home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 5, 1923, in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Adolph and Ada (Deremo) Nali. She graduated from West High School, Rockford, in 1942. Marion married Calvin Becker on September 18, 1958, in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Rockford. She was an active member of the Winnebago County Home Extension. Marion's passion was her family, and served as a den mother with the Boy Scouts while raising her sons. She also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, needlepoint, reading, and cooking.
Marion is lovingly survived by her husband, Calvin Becker of Winnebago; children, Mary Paquet of Green Valley, Ariz., Bradley Stickels of Belvidere, Martha Becker of Rockford and Timothy (Susan) Becker of Janesville, Wis.; grandchildren, Michelle Miles, Neil, Sara, and Amanda Stickels, Matthew Becker, Dustin, Jared and Joshua Becker, Alyssa Hawthorne, and Jocelynn Sveum; five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ethel (Bob) Swanstrom and Loretta (Chuck) Larson; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; great-grandson, Tyler Miles; brother, Lyle Nali; and nephews, Bob and Tom Nali.
Funeral Information
Service is at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 23, 2011, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time; the Rev. Larry Yaw, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Rockford, will officiate. Burial in Willwood Burial Park, Rockford.
