Obituary for Mary E. DeWitt

Beloved Mother

Winnebago - Mary E. DeWitt, 63, was called home on Thursday, May 8, 2008, at 12:35 a.m., following a courageous battle with cancer. Born December 5, 1944, to loving parents, Thomas and Marybeth (Herbert) Healy, in Chicago. Mary lived every day to the fullest and had a contagious zest for life. A longtime Winnebago resident, she enjoyed gardening, cherished time with family and friends, rescuing animals and being a proud mother and grandmother. Most of all, she loved to laugh.
Mary leaves behind countless people touched by her strength including her children, Ellen (Jim) Rood of Lake in the Hills, Gene (Tobi) Faut of Roselle, Mary (Mike) Hanrahan of Batavia, Beth (Brian) Worley of Novi, Mich., and Stephanie (Nick) Kohl of Winnebago; nine beautiful grandchildren, Jennifer and Ashley Rood, Jackson and Maxwell Faut, Kayla, Erin and Patrick Hanrahan, and Marin and Clare Worley; siblings, Janet (Frank) Irion of Oak Lawn and Tom (Maureen) Healy of Chicago; nieces and nephews; extended family, Douglas DeWitt and Gene Faut Sr.; dear friends, Ralph and Pat, Sandy, Roger, Carlo and Clyde; and loyal companions, Lola, Buddy, Gipper and Izzy.

She was predeceased by her parents, infant sister and many furry friends.

A heart-felt thank you to Northern Illinois Hospice, the staff at OSF Center for Cancer Care, Dr. Michael Fumo, Dr. Kent Hoskins and Jeanine.
