Obituary for Mary Lynn Deckard
Mary Lynn Deckard, 61, of Winnebago, lost her battle with cancer, Saturday, March 12, 2022, at her home in Rockford. She was born September 4, 1960 in Rockford, the daughter of Robert McCormick and Mary Ann (Gillespie) Martin Sr. She graduated from Winnebago High School in 1978. Mary Lynn married Robert “Bob” Oscar Deckard on May 27, 1989 in Rockford.
Mary Lynn worked with children with disabilities and as a certified nursing assistant. She enjoyed flower arranging, working in her flower beds and making holiday themed terrariums. She was an amazing cook known for her chili and loved animals especially her last dog Petey.
Mary Lynn is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann (Zane) D’keidek of St. Louis, MO; son, Michael (Madison Folk) Deckard of Winnebago; grandson, Maz D’keidek of St. Louis, MO; brothers, Matthew Martin of Winnebago, Robert “Rob” (Lucy) Martin Jr. of McFarland, WI; sisters, Julia Steele of Polson, MT, Jean (Randy) Miota of Coloma, MI; several nephews and nieces.
Mary Lynn is predeceased by her parents; husband, Bob Deckard; nephew, Daniel Steele; longtime companion, Lee Roy McKibben Sr.
Memorial service 11:00 a.m., with a memorial visitation starting at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago with Chaplain Randy Miota officiating.
